1Treat the crack as significant
Record the crack location and visible extent, protect the area and obtain the applicable approved inspection and repair instructions.
2Use stop-drilling only when authorised
The applicable SRM, repair drawing or engineering instruction must specifically permit the stop-drill action.
3Establish the true crack end
The visible end may not be the actual crack end. Use the specified NDT method and qualified personnel to establish the full extent.
4Protect the hole and structure
Location, final diameter, finishing, plug requirements and surrounding-surface protection must follow the approved procedure.
5Apply the required follow-up
Complete any repair, repetitive inspection, life limit and maintenance record required by the approved data.
