Fluid-Line Inspection and Testing
General inspection areas and testing boundaries for aircraft rigid tubes and flexible hoses.
Key reference points
- Cleanliness and access are essential for inspection.
- Check routing, material condition and connections.
- Use only the manual-defined test method and limits.
Organised training notes
1Clean and expose the line
Remove contamination using the approved method and gain enough access to see the critical surfaces and connections.
2Check chafing and support
Inspect for rubbing, inadequate clearance, missing or loose clamps, damaged grommets and contact with adjacent structure or systems.
3Check material condition
Look for corrosion, cracks, dents, kinks, flattening, bulges, ageing, heat damage and other deterioration relevant to the line type.
4Check fittings and ends
Inspect threads, flare or sleeve areas, nuts, unions and sealing surfaces for damage, leakage and correct engagement.
5Apply the specified test
Use the manual-defined test medium, pressure, duration, isolation, safety precautions and acceptance criteria.
