Fluid-Line Installation and Fabrication
General controls for aircraft fluid-line installation, fabrication and testing.
Key reference points
- Do not force a tube into alignment.
- Capture material and geometry before fabrication.
- Inspect and test the completed installation using approved procedures.
Organised training notes
1Inspect before installation
Check the tube, hose, fittings and sealing surfaces for cleanliness, damage, corrosion, deformation and correct identification.
2Align without force
The assembly should align naturally. Do not pull a tube into position by tightening a fitting nut.
3Use specified torque
Use the approved torque method, wrench arrangement and holding tool so the fitting and tube do not twist or overload.
4Capture fabrication data
Confirm material specification, outside diameter, wall thickness, overall geometry, bend data, end fittings and required allowances.
5Control forming operations
Cutting, deburring, bending, flaring, beading and sleeve preset require size-matched tools and inspection after each stage.
6Test the completed system
Complete the specified pressure, leak, functional and cleanliness tests after connections and supports are secure.
